How do you end a MLA paper?

Step 1: Write the Conclusion

- Restate the thesis, making sure to use different wording.

- Summarize the article’s main points and their evidence in brief form.

- End the paper with a thought that leaves readers with a final impression.

Step 2: Write the References/Works Cited Page

- Double space the citations.

- Place a hanging indent, where the first line is justified at the left margin, and all other lines are indented one-half inch from the left margin.

- Alphabetize the entries according to the first word that appears in the citation or the author’s last name if there is one.

Step 3: Title the Page

- Center the page title, Works Cited (MLA) or References (APA), one inch from the top of the page.

- Do not use bold, underline, or italics.

Step 4: Include the Page Number

- Include a page number in the upper right-hand corner of the page, 1 inch from the top.

- Precede the page number with the abbreviation “p.,” followed by a space.

Step 5: Submit Your Paper

- Save the document in a file format required by your instructor.

- Submit the paper according to your instructor’s specifications.
