Houston Pastry Schools

One discipline of culinary arts is the field of pastry. Finding a school that specializes in this discipline can be more challenging than finding a culinary arts program. You need to make sure that this option is available, as it differs greatly from the general culinary arts major. There are several schools in and around the Houston area that provide students with this career option.
  1. The International Culinary School

    • The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Houston offers students the option to pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree in culinary arts with a concentration in Pastry and Baking. The curriculum consists of 108 credit hours that are spread out over a total of seven academic quarters. The curriculum provides students with courses that are specific to baking and pastry as well as general education subjects such as public speaking, English and computer applications. The associate degree also provides students with the opportunity of an internship in which to hone the skills that they have learned in the classroom. The Art Institute supports federal financial aid and students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine their eligibility for grants and loans.
