The Gene Juarez Academy has two locations: North Seattle and South Seattle/Federal Way. Its program is broken down into modules and includes hair styling and coloring, salon training, business management and test preparation. With over 30-years' experience in cosmetology training, the school's 13-month program includes study in hair styling, cutting and color, salon training, career preparation skills and exam prep. Students must attend class or salon study five days a week. To apply for admission, you must be 17 or older, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet with a school director. As a student in a nationally accredited training program, you are qualified to apply for financial aid.
The Everett campus of Paroba College offers a course in cosmetology. Nationally accredited, the schedule of programs goes beyond the required hair, color and styling lessons to include hair extensions and Japanese hair relaxing techniques. Three days weekly and full-time evening programs are available. Manicures, facials, makeup, hair removal, product knowledge and retail sales are included in the curriculum. Classes start on a monthly rotating basis, and a meeting with an admissions director is required. Financial aid is available.
The Marysville campus of Everett Community College offers a cosmetology program. Hair, skin and nail care courses are taught over five quarters. Facials, makeup, facial hair removal, temporary hair styling and the proper handling of chemicals are a few of the courses taught. Students intern at local salons for practical experience. A high school diploma is required for admission. Financial aid is available. The cosmetology course is linked with Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center, which allows high school seniors to enroll in the program. It also helps fund the cost of the program.
Evergreen Beauty College, formerly Bellevue Beauty School, is located in Bellevue. Through lectures, demonstrations and lab work, students learn hair composition and technology, chemistry, bacteriology and anatomy, nail and skin care, business practices and salon management over the course of one year. They are also given state exam preparation. Full- and part-time schedules are available, as is financial aid.
