Killeen is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. A big chunk of its economy is supported by Fort Hood, a U.S. Army post. It is also popular as a small-town neighborhood that has grown but kept its hometown character, unlike other cities across the country. Killeen has more than enough vocational schools and colleges to train future hair stylists and cosmetologists from the areas of Harker Heights, Fort Hood, Killeen and Nolanville.
Killeen College of Cosmetology covers the gamut of beauty education. It has been around for over 30 years and is licensed by the Texas Cosmetology Commission. The curriculum for a cosmetology license takes three semesters or nine months. It covers hair treatment, cutting and styling, hair removal, skin and nail care, and a comprehensive review for all students so they can pass the license board test.
Yahweh Beauty Academy also is accredited by the Texas Cosmetology Commission. The academy was set up by a retired U.S. Army soldier who is also a certified cosmetologist with over 20 years' experience. The academy takes a holistic approach while graduating students with enough knowledge and hands-on training to pass the board exam.
OG's School of Hair Design specializes in barbering and is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The school offers on-site training as well as lectures and other traditional forms of education.
