Arabic Language Tips

Arabic is one of the central Semitic languages spoken in most Middle East regions. It also is spoken in many northern Africa regions and is the primary language of the Quran, the Islamic Holy Book. Though the language has many diverse variations that change from region to region, the general rules of the language remain the same. A few tips to consider when learning Arabic will make the complex language a little easier to comprehend.
  1. Stick to One Dialect

    • Because of the complexity and variety of Arabic, it's best to focus on one dialect before progressing to other dialects. Studying Moroccan when you travel to Israel will not do you much good because those areas' Arabic dialects are vastly different from each other. Focusing on one accent also is helpful because the accent varies from subtype to subtype. The most universal is standard Arabic, however, this language is a combination of all dialects and accents. So it is far more difficult to learn.

    Read and Write

    • Do not focus on just speaking Arabic. Reading and writing Arabic will help you gain a broader understanding of the language as a whole. The language's symbols and characters will assist you in understanding the intricacies of grammar and usage of words as well as endorse your understanding of spelling and vocabulary. Only speaking the language is not learning the language; it's just memorizing words and sentence construction.

    Dive into the Language

    • When trying to learn Arabic or a different language, it is always helpful to immerse yourself in the culture of the language. This will help you gain a larger understanding of the language and the culture that is behind that language. Study the history, cultural norms, religion and cuisine of the Arabic areas. In doing this, you will find yourself much more receptive and understanding of Arabic.

    Understand the Nouns

    • Arabic nouns are one-of-a-kind in their construction. Unlike English nouns, Arabic nouns have three forms: singular, dual and plural. Singular nouns are just one person, place or object; dual nouns are two people, places or objects; and plural nouns are more than two people, places or objects. Understanding this will help you learn Arabic at a much faster pace that otherwise.
