How to Help a Friend Move

Moving can be a stressful time because of the emotional stress of leaving a place, as well as the stress of finishing additional but necessary tasks. People often need to continue working, handle family activities and going away parties, and attend to other events and at the same time pack and clean. If you have a friend who is going through the moving process, there are numerous ways you can help. Talk to your friend and determine all the ways you can help her during this process.

Instructions

    • 1

Pick up packing supplies, such as tape, boxes and markers from the store. Recycle boxes by picking up extra packing boxes from your local grocery store.

    • 2

Pack up boxes. Tape and label the boxes. Place the boxes in a central location near the front door.

    • 3

Bring over cleaning supplies and help your friend with cleaning out each room after it has been emptied. Steam clean carpets and scrub down appliances.

    • 4

Provide home-cooked meals once your friend's kitchen supplies have been packed away. Bring over food with paper plates and disposable utensils.

    • 5

Take recyclables and clothing donations to the appropriate locations in your town.

    • 6

Load up the moving truck on moving day. Walk through each room of your friend's home and make sure everything has been removed.
