Go to the Let's Play Math blog that features lists of websites that offer free resources for learning math online (see Resources). A great way to get started is by go through an online math lesson. Go to the option on the blog called, "Study on Your Own with Online Math Lessons." Click on "Arithmetic and other elementary topics" to learn basic math skills, or click on "Algebra and beyond" for high school and college level math lessons. For purpose of this article, click on "Arithmetic and other elementary topics" as an example.
Search through the links to find a website most suitable for the lessons you want to learn. For example, click on the "HomeschoolMath.net" link. Go to the "Middle" section of the website and click on "Multiplying decimals."
Follow the lesson from the linked blog. Use paper and pencil and work the problems along with the steps. For another example of a more advanced learning website, continue to Step 4.
Go back to the "Study on Your Own with Online Math Lessons" section of the Let's Play Math blog. Click on the option for "Algebra and Beyond" and then click on the first link for "College Algebra Tutorial." You will see 59 tutorials with lessons and tips that will help you succeed in college math courses. For example, click on "Tutorial 17: Quadratic Equations."
Read the Learning Objectives and refer to these throughout the lesson to make sure you comprehend each objective. Take notes while you read through the lesson and write down any equation or example anytime one appears. Continue go through these lessons starting from the beginning to learn these math skills.
