How to Learn Interactive English

Learning to interact in English requires listening to English being spoken as much as possible. The British Council reports that 375 million people speak English as a second language and 750 million speak it as a foreign language. If you are one of them, spend some time learning how English is used and spoken by average native English speakers.

To converse confidently in the language means that you must practice it as often as you can. If you have to use English on a regular basis, improving your conversational skills will prove invaluable.

  Learn idioms and figures of speech. English is full of phrases that seem to make no sense unless you understand the meanings behind them. Some of them may seem to be "out in left field," but don't let them "throw you for a loop."

  Know the differences between slang terms and proper ways of speaking. If you are talking to an average English speaker, you will likely use slang at some point, which include very informal words and phrases. Understand when to use more formal speech and when it is more appropriate to use informal words and phrases.
