Open Microsoft PowerPoint on your computer. Start with an idea of what you'd like to put in a presentation. Say you want to present a PowerPoint about dogs. Save your PowerPoint as "Dog.pptx."
Click on the text box that should appear automatically on the first slide. You can enter text here or delete the text box. For instance, you could put "Dog Slide Show."
Find the button in the navigation bar at the top that reads "Design." When you click this, you can see multiple thumbnail pictures of preset designs that you can use for your presentation. Find one and click it. Your slides will change into this design.
Click "Home" from the top navigation bar and locate the button that reads "New Slide." If you click the "New Slide" button with the arrow pointing down, you will see multiple new slides that you can select. If you chose a theme, the slides will automatically be from that theme. Choose a slide format that you like. Try to choose one that allows you to put an image in.
Click on the new slide you just entered. In the center of the slide should be six icons, including a movie reel and a bar graph. If you click the button that looks like a photo (when you scroll your mouse over it), it will read, "Insert Picture from File." A browse menu will appear. You can search your computer's files and upload a picture. You can also upload other media, such as a video or graph by clicking those icons.
Select the picture you uploaded and click "Format" from the top navigation bar. You can select different styles you'd like your picture to appear in.
Add text by clicking in a preset text box, or by clicking "Home" tab and locating the "drawing" panel; find the little icon that appears to be a document with text. Click this icon or go to "Insert" --> "Text Box." You can then place a text box on your slide.
Fill the text box with anything you'd like to write. You can change the justification, font size, color and more from the "Home" tab.
Save frequently. Add more slides by clicking "New Slide." When you want to view your show, click "Slide Show" --> "From Beginning" and use the arrow keys or the enter key to change slides. Continue to play with some of the buttons to find out what they do. You can delete anything you don't like by clicking your delete key on your keyboard.
