Flash Picture Slideshow Tutorial

Flash picture slideshows are one of the easiest projects to complete in Flash. You need to know very few menu commands and won't have to do any coding. But that's not all. You can also create dramatic and professional slide show graphic effects simply and quickly. The secret to creating flash picture slideshows is the Flash Slide Presentation option that comes standard with Flash. This component allows for slide show controls to be placed on each of your slides in seconds. It also lets you give individual graphic effects to each slide.

      Create a flash slideshow file.

      Start your flash program and create a Flash Slide Show file. Select File>New. Now select the General tab from the dialog box that appears. Select Flash Slide Presentation from the file types.

      Insert slides and pictures.

      Select the "Plus" icon on the Slide Show screen. Click on the icon 4 times to create 4 blank slides. Select slide 1 on the slide show bar. Select File>Import. Browse your directory files for a flash compatible graphic. Import jpeg or gif picture files. Select the file and press OK. Repeat the image insertion procedure for the remaining three slides.

      Assign actions and events to each image.

      Select slide 1 and then select the image on slide 1. Assign a control behavior to the image. Select Window>behavior. Select the Next Slide action in the action list box. Assign an event to the image. Select event on the event list box and then select "on press." Repeat the procedure for all four images in each of the slides. Assign the action :"first slide" to the image on slide 4.

      Assign slide effects.

      Select slide 1 on the slide show bar. Assign a behavior to the entire slide. Select window>behaviors. Choose transitions from the actions list box. Select blinders from the transitions dialog box. Repeat the procedure for all four slides. Choose different effects for each slide.

      Test the slide show.

      Select Control>Test Movie. Observe the transitional blind effect on the first slide. Position the cursor with your mouse over the image on the first screen. Depress the mouse. Observe that the slide show displays slide two. Continue sequencing in the slide show until you reach the end.
