How to Work With Flash Templates

Flash templates make working with flash easier and faster. And that's because templates help organize your work. But that's not all. Flash templates also help expedite project development. That's because you can make flash templates from your projects.



Flash advertising templates can be used to quickly make online ads to industry standardized sizes. Once you make your ad with the template, you cannot only save your ad as a new ad, but also as a new template.

      Open and select a flash advertising template.

      Start Adobe Flash Professional and select "File," "New" from the main-menu bar. Select the "Template" tab from the dialog box that appears. Select a category from the new dialog box. Select the advertising category. Select the small 120 x 60 ad button template.

      Draw a small square in the template. Select "Windows," "Tools." Select the rectangle icon on the tool bar that appears. Position the mouse over the stage drawing area, depress the mouse and then drag the mouse to size a rectangle. Release the mouse button when the rectangle is the size you want.

      Save and test your work.

      Save your flash FLA file. Select "File," "Save." Use the name adSmall.fla. Now test to see how your ad looks in action. Select "Control," "Test Movie." Close the movie when done. Open and play the associated Flash SWF file. Open the directory where you saved adSmall.fla. Find and open the associated adSmall.swf file. Click the adSmall.swf file to activate the flash ad. Notice that the movie has a stage size that is the same size as the ad you made.

      Make and save a template.

      Select "File," "Save" as template. Give your template the name smallAd.fla. Also assign a category name. Use completedAds. Type in a description of your ad and press "Save."

      Verify that your template has been saved. Select "File," "New." Select the template tab in the dialog box that appears. Select the completedAds category. Locate the smallAd.fla and select it. Look at the picture icon that is associated with the file.
