How to Speak Danish

Danish is a North Germanic language with about five and a half million speakers in Denmark, Greenland, Norway, Sweden and Germany, as well as in other countries around the world. Danish is not a particularlly difficult language for English speakers to learn, as English and Danish are both Germanic languages. Get a conversation partner to speak Danish with on a regular basis, and your comprehension and speaking skills will improve dramatically. There are also countless online resources for those who want to speak Danish.

      Research Danish classes in your area. If your area has a significant Danish or northern European population, there may be classes available at a local community center or through a private instructor. You also might find a class at a nearby university or college.
