How to Speak the Russian Language

Once you have learned basic vocabulary and sentence structure, speaking Russian isn't difficult. There is a flow to the language that makes it quite logical for the speaker, and there are few connecting words necessary for spoken Russian. Often only a noun and verb are necessary for a complete sentence. This makes Russian sentence structure much easier for a beginner to master and makes conversations possible after only a few lessons. Getting to this point in your Russian studies can be made faster and easier with just a couple of study tricks and a decent language learning program.

Obtain a language program. This is necessary for learning the accent, inflection and tones that Russians use when speaking. Programs can be purchased or you can check with your local library and see if they have one that you can check out. Hearing Russian spoken is critical to your ability to speak the language.

Visit Russian websites. This is a way to expand your Russian skills in both reading and speaking. Many Russian websites have forums that allow you to interact with others, but the real value is in the areas of these websites that have Russian music, spoken lectures and television programs.

iTunes has several free Podcasts in Russian that will help you with your speaking skills simply by allowing you to mimic the words. Because many of these are intended for language learners, they are in both Russian and English.

Talk to Russians. There is really no way around it--to speak Russian you are going to need to speak it to someone. Perhaps a friend or coworker speaks Russian and you can practice with them. If that isn't a possibility, consider one of the online voice chats that allows you to speak to Russians. These chats often work in favor of both parties; you speak Russian to them and they correct it. Then they speak English to you and you correct their conversation. A good site to try is www.rususa.com/chat/.
