Hire an online Danish tutor to improve your skills. After you have completed an online course, one of the fastest ways to improve your language skills is by hiring a live online Danish tutor to provide interaction and feedback on your progress. Log onto the Verbal Planet website and select Danish and the currency with which you will pay (see link in References). The site will direct you to a page of profiles of available Danish tutors and their rates per lesson. Lesson fees range between $18 and $35 for a 45-minute online session.
Participate in a free online language exchange. Practice makes perfect and an effective (and free) way to improve your Danish skills is by participating in an online language exchange. Log onto the My Language Exchange website and go to the search function to provide information about your language needs (see link in References). The site will match you with a Danish speaker who is looking to improve his/her English skills. Language exchanges are available via email, text or voice chat, with half the session conducted in Danish and the other half conducted in English.
Listen to Danish radio. An essential part of language learning is listening, and regularly listening to Danish radio will help familiarize you with the sounds of the language and keep it fresh in your mind. At the end of each session with your online language partner, log onto Danish radio and listen for between 15 to 20 minutes. To help build your vocabulary, write down any words or phrases that are unfamiliar and look them up. Access numerous Danish radio stations online by logging onto Multilingual Books and clicking the foreign radio link (see link in Resources).
Read Danish news. Reading Danish is equally important as listening to the spoken language and will also help increase your vocabulary. After listening to the radio, log onto onlinenewspapers.com and select "Denmark." Read newspaper articles immediately after listening to the radio and you will likely stumble upon similar stories, which will further reinforce your vocabulary and familiarize you with the written components of numerous words you heard on the radio.
