What is the difference between education and schooling?

Education and schooling often are used interchangeably, but there are some key differences between the two:

- Schooling refers to a formal, institution-based learning process, typically in a classroom setting. It is typically thought of as a structured, chronological process that students progress through, although it can also include informal educational settings like workshops, seminars, and apprenticeship.

- Education, on the other hand, is a much broader concept. It refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and values that enhance a person's intellectual and personal development. Education can take place anywhere, at any time, and under any circumstances. It includes both formal schooling and informal learning experiences, such as reading books, traveling, or exploring new interests.

While schooling is an important part of education, it is not the only part. Education is a lifelong process that continues beyond the classroom walls.
