The Columbus Bartending School has been in existence since 1978. The school is licensed by the state of Ohio to train aspiring bartenders. Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend classes are offered. Students receive ServSafe Alcohol Awareness Training by the National Restaurant Association, which teaches students to become responsible bartenders and promote moderation. After completing 40 hours of coursework, graduates receive a certificate. Students at the Columbus Bartending School also can take advantage of the school's job placement program after graduation.

The courses at the state-licensed ABC Bartending School are taught by school Director Ben Bozeman. A former English teacher, Bozeman has been training bartenders in Columbus since 1995. The curriculum at ABC includes courses on customer service, bar equipment, bar terms, choosing glasses, mixing cocktails, tipping, money handling, catering private parties and job interview techniques. Graduates of ABC Bartending School can take advantage of its job placement program.

The Professional Bartending Institute in Columbus is one of many state-licensed schools in the national Professional Bartending Schools of America's chain. The Columbus campus has a full-service bar, side service-bar and mini-bar to train students in environments similar to those at local bars.The schools allows students to study part time or full time and offers financing options.
