How to Organize Your Tasks

Organization is a remarkable attribute to which many aspire but which few achieve. Implementing better organization is useful in both your business pursuits and your personal life. You can start accomplishing this task with anything from organizing your closet space or attic to organizing your computer files. Organizing your daily tasks is an important goal for people who lead busy lives, but simple steps can help you on your way.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a complete list of things that you must accomplish the following day. Assemble this list at the start of each day or -- even better -- the night before.

    • 2

Prioritize list items according to importance using a numbering system. This priority order is not necessarily the order in which you will complete the tasks.

    • 3

Categorize the numbered, prioritized tasks using alphabetic letters to assign them into groups, based on the location where they are to be done and the dependency of one task on another. For example, if tasks No. 2 and No. 5 both require use of the computer but neither can be completed until task No. 1, a computer maintenance item, is accomplished, then categorize these three tasks as group "A." In this example, group "A" tasks will be the first ones to be performed.
