Walkways in public parks are lit with LED lights. Juan Pablo Park in Santiago, Chile uses solar LED lights to light paths, reduce energy costs and to lengthen hours that the park is open.
Major cities throughout the world now use LEDs for street lighting. These include Raleigh, North Carolina, known as the first LED city, and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
LED stoplights have been installed in numerous cities. St. Paul, Minnesota and Green Bay, Wisconsin are two such cities.
Major world stadium events flaunt LED technology as an attraction. At the Beijing Olympics, over 440,000 multi-colored LED lights were used for a multicolored water cube display.
LED technology also provides docks and wharves with light. LED lights from Carmanah Technologies, a LED light company, are used to light docks and wharves in the French Polynesia islands.
Solar cell LED lights provide lighting for airfields. Major airports such as Chicago's O'Hare and Vancouver's International Airport have installed solar LEDs on their runways.
