Students receive driving instruction (including behind-the-wheel practice) and job placement. To enroll, students must have a valid driver's license and submit to a physical exam. The school promises to work with applicants for tuition assistance, helping them with loans, V.A. funding and sponsored training. York Technical College provides two truck driver training classes, one six weeks, one two weeks. Students must pass a physical exam and have a clean driving record. Financial aid and job placement are both available. Students in the six-week class learn logs, trip planning, behind-the-wheel, D.O.T. rules and field maneuvers. The two-week course is solely hands-on instruction, for a total of 80 hours. (Both classes meet Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are offered from January to September.)
