Established in 1881, the American Red Cross provides emergency and disaster relief to national and international communities, and is the largest supplier of blood and blood products nationwide. The Red Cross provides year-round emergency training to individuals and numerous organizations at one of its regional sites. Interested candidates can contact statewide Red Cross chapters. In addition to providing CPR training, the Red Cross offers emergency preparedness training in first aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) courses. All of the classes are offered by highly trained experts in emergency preparedness instruction. Candidates who successfully complete the training will receive a nationally recognized certification of completion. Courses in emergency preparedness are also available in Spanish.

The American Heart Association offers CPR training to individuals and health care providers. In addition, AHA provides CPR training to community centers and various industries. Through its international program, AHA makes available CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular training to health care providers, caregivers and organizations worldwide. National training in CPR is provided at local AHA-affiliated locations or through online courses. The flexible web-based program consists of a series of courses in CPR, AED, first aid and heart saver training. Candidates who complete the training will receive a certificate of completion, which is valid for two years.

Based in California, Emergency University is a leading provider of online courses in emergency preparedness, including first aid, CPR and AED. The courses are available to individuals, health care providers, government agencies and instructors who wish to update their skills. All of the programs offered at the university are nationally accredited by the American Heart Association and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Upon successful completion of the online course, candidates will receive a printable certification of completion. The university is also eligible to provide re-certification courses to qualified candidates.
