Located in the Pennsylvania town of Warminster, the Automotive Training Center opened to the public in 1917 as a division of Philadelphia's Spring Garden College. Offering programs in advanced automotive technology as well as engine rebuilding techniques, the Automotive Training Center also features an intensive collision repair program for incoming students. This course, which can take up to 20 full months to complete, instructs students on metalworking skills, body repair techniques, frame repair, arc welding, auto body painting and refinishing. ASE- and I-CAR-certified instructors will show students how to write service orders for customers requiring extensive auto body repair work. These instructors will also teach students how to appraise an damaged car body for insurance purposes.

Established in 1966, the Wyotech Laramie technical school features courses in motor-sports chassis fabrication, automotive trim and upholstery technology, and a wide-ranging course in collision refinishing technology. Students can expect to spend more than 19 months to complete the program's two main sections---collision repair and automotive refinishing---when taking them together. The auto body collision repair course instructs students on steel and aluminum panel repair techniques, structural straightening and squeeze-type resistance spot welding.
