Team Work Project Ideas

Whether you have a group of employees or students, great teamwork will depend on great communication. Assign teamwork projects to your group that will help them improve communication and work together to solve a problem. From an egg drop project to a pipeline project, let the teams work together to prove their worthiness to the company or class.
  1. Egg Drop

    • Divide your employees or students into groups of four or five people. Give each group a raw egg, box of straws, poster board, cotton balls, socks, glue, tape and toilet paper. The teams will have 45 minutes to build a crate for their egg. Explain to the teams they will have to take their eggs outside and drop them from eight feet in the air. The teams will have to work together to build a crate that will protect their egg. After the egg drop, let the teams talk about their project and what went right or wrong. The teams can also talk about the other egg projects and discuss how they were better or worse than their own. Wait two weeks and let the same teams do the project again. Team communication will improve each time the project is done.

    Boat Building

    • Let your team build a boat and see if it will float. If you have a large team, divide the employees or students into smaller groups. Each group gets straws, rope, small barrels, coke bottles, cardboard and duct tape. Give the group or groups 30 to 45 minutes to construct their boats. The teams must work together to figure out how to build a boat that will float. If you have several teams, let them compete against one another to see which team boat will float the longest and go the farthest.

    Pipeline

    • You will need several pieces of half-pipe or gutter to complete this project. Each team will get the same amount of half-pipe pieces. The teams must see who can put a working pipeline together in the fastest amount of time. No tape or glue can be used on the half-pipe pieces. They teammates must use their hands to hold the pipeline in place. The team will have to pour water or allow a marble to go down the pipeline to prove their pipeline is complete. If you have only one team, they can work together to see how fast they can complete a working pipeline.
