How to Change Colleges or Technical Schools in Pennsylvania

Transferring from one Pennsylvania college to another doesn't have to be a struggle. The challenging part is transferring course credits from one school to another to fulfill requirements for your major. Each individual college and technical school in Pennsylvania has its own course schedule and description. Knowing a little about what is expected at your new school can save you a lot of time and effort on the front end.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a list of courses offered by all Pennsylvania colleges and technical schools that will automatically transfer. The Pennsylvania Transfer and Articulation Center website provides a database that will match courses from various schools.

    • 2

Meet with a guidance counselor at the school you anticipate attending. Typically this meeting will take place once you have been accepted at new school. You may find out that you can transfer more courses than you originally thought.

    • 3

Test out of courses in which you already have experience. Many colleges offer routine testing that allows you to test out of basic skills courses such as math, English, science and history. Depending on your academic background, you may be able to save yourself time and money by not having to take those courses.
