Develop a campaign team. Get friends or others who believe in your candidacy to help organize the campaign. These people will help tremendously in getting the campaign to succeed.
Develop a platform. Determine why you want to run, why you are the best candidate, what your qualifications are and what you will do if elected. The responsibilities for different elements of student government vary, so figure out exactly what you will be in charge of and how much power you will have.
Develop a website, Facebook group, Twitter account and other social media platforms to give visitors more information about you, your platform and the campaign. This is essential and will help you connect with the student body.
Get the word out. Raise awareness by putting up campaign posters and handing out fliers that contain basic information about your platform, as well as your website address, Facebook page or other contact information.
Hold a rally. A rally is a public speech that allows you to speak to the students and field questions. It can be informal and impromptu. Select a highly visible location, such as the cafeteria.
Meet students. Campaign by introducing yourself to as many students as possible. Meet with different student groups, clubs, organizations and teams. Find out what the needs of the students are. Meet with staff and those who are on the student council.
Be a good person. Part of elections is being well liked. Cultivate a personality that is warm, compassionate, caring and fun. People want to vote for a good person.
