Chico State offers its students six traditional dorm-style dwellings: Mechoopda Hall, Esken Hall, Shasta Hall, Lassen Hall, Sutter Hall and Whitney Hall. These residential halls are all co-ed, and there are generally two students to a room with at least 30 sharing each bathroom. Each room comes furnished with two extra-long twin beds, desks and chairs, trash cans and storage drawers. Every room also has closet space, cable hook-up and a land-line phone connection. Each hall is in close proximity to the dining facility and within walking distance of classes. Students living in the dorms enjoy the convenience of being close to the dining hall and most academic buildings as well as a built-in social environment to help ease their transition to college. All-you-can-eat meal plans are available for students staying in the dorms.
University Village is the only university-owned apartment complex at Chico State. These furnished apartments are less than a mile from campus, accessible by a free shuttle service. University Village residents receive the same benefits as students who stay on-campus, including universal access to all university facilities. Residents can choose from three layouts:
-Six-Person Clusters include two singles and two double rooms with a kitchen and two bathrooms. The clusters also have a patio or balcony.
-Four-Person Clusters consists of four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen.
-Double Studios have a single bathroom and kitchen and a shared patio or balcony.
The six houses of Konkow Hall comprise the themed housing program at Chico State. Each unit houses 14 residents (including a resident assistant) and features a common living room, two bathrooms (one male, one female) and a kitchen. Each unit is set up to reflect a particular academic or cultural theme. Residents organize house activities, which may include lectures, dinners and music. The themes change, so contact the UHFS to find out what the current themes are.
Upon being admitted to the university as a freshman or transfer student, you will receive a welcome packet from the UHFS office that includes housing information. Housing is not guaranteed at Chico State, but priority is given to freshmen students in all the dorms (with the exception of Sutter). Students should visit the UHFS website for more detailed housing information.
