How to Make a Student Survival Guide

A student survival guide is essential for planning and keeping yourself on track for busy student life. Using a survival guide properly can aid you in meeting your academic goals while helping you stay organized. It should be your main school notebook and contain all important school-related information and paperwork. Keeping everything in one place will make school less hectic by giving you one object that holds all your school materials, saving you the trouble of searching through multiple folders and notebooks.

Instructions

    • 1

Glue your schedule of classes on the inside of the front cover of the binder. Leave a blank page facing the schedule so you can note changes.

    • 2

Glue your schedule of extracurricular activities on the inside of the back cover of your binder. Leave a blank page facing this schedule so you can note changes or add new obligations.

    • 3

Write a list of accomplishments you hope to achieve over the course of the year, on the second page in the binder. Cross out the accomplishments when you complete them, and add new goals as they emerge.

    • 4

Put folders in your three-ring binder, and mark one for each of your classes. Keep the course syllabus, assignments and other important course information in each folder.

    • 5

Keep a budget worksheet in your survival guide, and write down purchases as you make them, so you don't spend more than you mean to.

    • 6

Leave a section of pages near the front of your student survival guide so that you can make a list each day of the homework and reading you need to complete that day. Check the list morning and night, and cross off tasks when they are completed.
