Can a public university make you live on campus?
Most public universities do not require all students to live on campus. However, many do require first-year students (and sometimes sophomores) to live in university housing, especially if they are under a certain age or live far from the campus. This is often stated in their housing policies. Exceptions are usually made for students who meet specific criteria, such as commuting students who live with their parents or guardians nearby. Always check the specific university's housing policies for details.
