Open your word program and select Times New Roman font in size 12. Type the word "References" (less parenthesis) on the first line and center it, then double space the document. Every line that comes after the first line of each entry for the duration of your reference list must be indented one-half inch from the left margin and alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work,
Type the last name of the author, followed by a comma, the initial of their first name, and then a period.
Enter the year the journal was published between parentheses, and then a period.
Type in the name of the article and only capitalize the first word and the title words that are proper nouns. Place a period after the title.
Type the name of the publication in italics and a comma. Next, type in the volume number of the publication, (which, is also italicized), followed by the issue number in parenthesis.
Place a comma after the issue number and enter the page numbers that you referenced followed by a period.
Enter the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) of the specific journal article. According to the "APA Citation Style" page from Long Island University, the DOI "is a string of numbers (and/or letters) assigned to individual journal articles as well as to some other publications."
