Organizational Leadership & Advanced Degrees

An organizational leadership degree provides students with the knowledge and skills to lead others in industries that face unique or common problems. The organizational leadership program equips individuals with running their own business and learning to work effectively within large groups. While many business departments in universities offer courses in the area of organizational leadership, degrees and advanced degrees are available for specific study in the area, both online and on-site.
  1. Gonzaga

    • Gonzaga offers an online Organizational Leadership Masters Degree for students who want to study while they continue work. The program combines research from social sciences and communication fields, as well as business to provide students with the skills and know-how to deal with everyday organizational difficulties. The program teaches students to build networks and alliances, instill confidence, inspire good ideas, think creatively and turn an idea into action. Students complete the online application and pay the online fee and send a copy of their resume, official transcript, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and Graduate Record Exam (GRE) results to be considered for admission.

    Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne

    • Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne offers an Organizational Leadership Certificate for graduate-level students. The program is based on a master's degree program and combines theory and practice to help students build a foundation for leadership in the workplace. The degree is specifically designed for students with advanced degrees in other fields that are looking to improve their organizational leadership skills in that area. Students will learn to identify and assess organizational climate and culture and develop practices that promote teamwork and personal effectiveness. In order to apply, students must be currently admitted to any Purdue or Indiana University graduate degree program. Students apply to the Division of Organizational Leadership and Supervision.

    University of Oklahoma

    • The University of Oklahoma offers a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. The program provides an interdisciplinary approach to the study through theory and research to examine the professional success of leaders in different organizational settings. The program allows the students to apply the course to their own area of interest. The course is small, with only 23 to 30 students admitted at the same time. Admission requirements include an earned master's degree from a regionally accredited university, a 3.4 grade-point average (GPA), demonstrated potential to complete scholarly work, and completion of either Millers' Analogies test (MAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

    Business Degrees

    • Other options for exploring organizational degrees on an advanced level would be to consult with universities and colleges in your area that feature business degrees for Masters and Doctorate programs. Many Business degree programs contain some element of organizational leadership that you can apply to your area of interest or study. While the degree may not be specific to that of the study of organizational leadership, you will learn the basics and form the foundation that is needed to excel in this area.
