What is a National Education Ambassador?

National Education Ambassadors serve as champions for the U.S. Department of Education’s education reform efforts and engage stakeholders at the local, regional and national levels on how students in our nation’s education system can successfully compete with children across the globe in the high-demand science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) jobs of the 21st century.

* Ambassadors meet at a semi-annual national conference and conduct outreach with stakeholders in their own jurisdictions during interim periods. Through conference engagements, they have:

* Led conversations on important public education priorities;

* Developed relationships with government and private sector leaders across the country;

* Learned strategies used in other communities by successful teachers, principals, parents, business partners, elected officials, and government education representatives; and

* Built public awareness for promising policies and practices that positively effect all stakeholders engaged in public education.
