Located on Dixie Highway, between Walton and Andersonville Road in Waterford, Michigan College of Beauty offers courses in cosmetology. Housed in a one-story 4,900 square foot facility, the college has the ability to educate 245 students each year. During the 1,500 hours of instruction, students acquire an understanding of all aspects of hairstyling, from haircutting and shaping to permanent waving and specialized hair coloring. The college features junior classrooms as well as a senior classroom for advanced studies. Day and evening courses are available, as is financial aid for those who qualify.
Located in a 10,000 square foot facility on the corner of Dixie Highway and Sashabaw, Marketti Academy of Cosmetology offers programs for instructor training, cosmetology, esthetics and manicurist. Admission requires a high school diploma or GED, a Social Security card, drivers license, $100 registration fee and a 500-word essay. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. The instructor training program consists of 500 hours during which time you will learn such skills as curriculum development and classroom management. The cosmetology program requires 1,500 hours, Esthetics courses require 420 hours, and the manicure program consists of 400 hours. All programs are full or part-time. Financial aid is available.
Located in the northeast corner of the Pontaic-Oakland International Airport in Waterford, Flight 101 offers courses for pilot training. Courses for both private and commercial pilots licenses are available in a one-on-one training atmosphere. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of training to obtain a private pilot's license and a minimum of 250 hours for a commercial license. Students must be at least 17 to obtain a pilots license. Financial assistance is offered through Sally Mae Financial.
By completing an 84-hour H&R tax preparation course, you will be able to apply for a seasonal position with H&R block, with two locations in Waterford. Classes are available days, nights, weekdays or weekends. You will receive hands-on training while studying everyday life cases relating to tax preparation. You will learn tax theory, tax laws and filing practices, as well as tax preparation techniques and skills.
