This technical school in Augusta, Georgia, offers a barbering diploma as well as a technical certificate in barbering for cosmetologists. The former calls for completion of 81 credit hours in order to receive the diploma and meets the Georgia State Board of Barbering requirements for obtaining a state license in barbering.
The technical certificate for cosmetologists offers instruction to currently practicing cosmetology professionals seeking additional training in barbering. In order to earn the certificate, the student must complete 23 credit hours. After doing so, the graduate is able, like barbering program graduates, to obtain a license to work as a barber from the State Board of Barbering. In order to apply, however, students must already hold a master of cosmetology license.
While tuition is less expensive for Georgia residents, Augusta Technical College also serves students residing in South Carolina due to its proximity to the state line. Since they don’t pay taxes in Georgia, South Carolina residents should keep in mind that their tuition will be higher than those students who come to Augusta Tech from within Georgia.
