Located in California, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) is a private college and one of the country's best-known fashion schools. Accredited by the NASAD, the school offers a two-year Associate of Arts degree and a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in business management in more than 20 majors, including fashion, jewelry, textiles and fashion knitwear design. Students with previous college degrees in unrelated fields can enroll in a 15-month program, called a Professional Designation Associate of Arts degree. FIDM has four campuses: Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Orange County. FIDM offers rolling admissions, and classes start quarterly.

The NASAD-accredited school offers a range of undergraduate degrees, including a two-year Associate of Applied Arts degree and four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees. FIT also has master's degree programs. Undergraduates can major in several fields, including fashion design, fabric styling, menswear and fashion merchandising management. Graduate programs include global fashion management, fashion and textiles theory, and history and illustration.

The Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University is a NASAD-accredited school that offers a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in fashion design. Located in Philadelphia, the school emphasizes hands-on experiences. Along with coursework, students complete a six-month externship to learn different facets of the fashion world, including design and presentation skills, manufacturing and how to style clothing for men, women, children and different seasons. Students design, create and present their own clothing line for the school's annual fashion show.
