Located in the central Texas city of Waco, Baylor University's fashion merchandising program has sent many graduates on to careers at retail companies like Chloe, Betsey Johnson, Neiman Marcus and Abercrombie & Fitch. Baylor's program prepares students with pertinent skills that can be applied in a range of careers, from retail buying and business ownership, to product development and merchandise planning. Communication, analytical thinking and marketing are just some of the skills learned in courses like Introduction to Fashion Industry and Fashion Forecasting. Students can also take on a merchandising internship for course credits toward a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising. The program is housed within Baylor's Family & Consumer Sciences Department in the school's College of Arts and Sciences.

Northern Arizona University's offers bachelor's degree studies in merchandising. The program is housed within the university's College of Social & Behavioral Sciences. Students in Northern Arizona's merchandising programming prepare for career opportunities as fashion reporters, promotional writers and even as comparison shoppers, in addition to many other opportunities in apparel, cosmetics and textiles. A variety of courses in fashion history and fashion psychology is available, and can be supplemented with fieldwork in internships. Students can enrich their experience by spending a semester abroad, or by joining the Northern Arizona Merchandising Association, a student society that organizes networking events and trips to design houses and trade shows.

The Florida State University's program in retail merchandising is within the university's College of Human Sciences. Graduates of the bachelor's program are prepared for entry-level positions in retail merchandising, product development and retail fields.
