Esthetician Courses in Texas

Cosmetology is the application and study of beauty treatments. Specialties include manicures and pedicures, cosmetics, hairstyling and skin care. Skin care specialists are also known as estheticians, and this career field focuses on treatments such as waxing, microdermabrasion, body wraps and facials. Though estheticians need not be licensed in cosmetology, there are several schools in Texas that have esthetician courses and programs for students pursuing this career.

    • The Aveda Institute in San Antonio, Texas offers a few beauty-oriented programs that include a curriculum in esthiology, which focuses on skin care and hair removal. This program takes from six to nine months to complete, and students are introduced to the origins and benefits of Aveda products. The curriculum includes a combination of theoretical, practical and professional building skills. Skin care classes include areas such as histology, skin disorders, facials, cleansing and moisturizing. There is financial aid available to students who qualify.

    • The Sassoon Academy School Connection has a School of Esthetics that teaches the science of skin care at the Avenue Five Institute in Austin. Prospective students are welcomed to a scheduled tour of the school and its facilities prior to enrollment. The esthetics programs at Avenue Five Institute are either attended full-time or in the evening. Through an advanced curriculum, there are a total of 750 hours of instruction and training that includes chemical peel, facial training and LED light therapy. Certification can also be earned in the areas of microdermabrasion, methodology and product knowledge. Certification is also available in the application of E'lan semi-permanent lashes.

    Royal Beauty Careers

    • The philosophy at Royal Beauty Careers is to provide educational enhancement, skill development and career advancement. The facialists/esthetics program is designed to teach students to develop treatments and techniques, waxing, eyelash and brow tinting, and basic knowledge of the skin and its disorders.
