Because We Care (BWC), a nonprofit health training center in Washington D.C., offers phlebotomy courses lasting from eight to 15 weeks. The United Planning Organization provides a 12-week phlebotomy training program that prepares students to take the National Association of Health Professionals certification exam. UPO requires applicants have a high school diploma or GED and live in the Washington area. Interested parties should contact the UPO for schedule and cost information.

Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, approximately 20 minutes from Washington, has a three-month training course in phlebotomy for $1,599 in conjunction with Montgomery College. About the same distance away in Takoma Park, Montgomery College also has a 20-week phlebotomy training course of its own for $1,885.
