Students who successfully complete the program learn the fundamentals of woodworking through courses that focus on materials, wood joints, cabinet designing and professional tool use and safety. The organization, which is approved for teaching through the American Association of Woodworkers, provides courses in woodworking and wood craft design. Students learn the arts of wood scrolling, construction, furniture making and cabinetry through the guidance of professional woodworkers in the industry. In addition to providing instruction in the field of woodworking, the Gwinett Woodworkers Association is also the main chapter of the American Woodworkers Union. While there is no tuition to enroll in woodworking courses through the Gwinett Woodworkers Association, membership is required, which, as of September 2010 costs $50 per year.
