The HVAC, or Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning, industry employs installation and service technicians all over the world. According to the 2010-2011 Occupational Outlook Handbook, released by the United States Department of Labor, employment prospects for new job applicants in the HVAC industry are expected to be excellent for the next several years.



There are three agencies that set the standards for accreditation in the U.S.: the National Center for Construction Education and Research; HVAC Excellence; and the Partnership for Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Accreditation.
  1. Environmental Technical Institute

    • Environmental Technical Institute offers 2 programs in HVAC training, one a 6-month course and the other a 12-month course. HVAC certification is granted upon completion of both courses, however the 12 month course is designed for full-time students.     Erie Institute of Technology

    • The Erie Institute of Technology in Erie, Pennsylvania offers certification in all areas of the HVAC industry with hands-on training by experts. Instruction in the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems are covered. Modern tools and equipment are utilized so that students are up-to-date with today's HVAC technology which has evolved to incorporate solar and computerized systems into it's newer designs. Successful completion of the Erie Institute of Technology HVAC certification program will prepare the student for a career in an industry that will always demand qualified technicians. Open House events are scheduled throughout the year for potential students wishing to tour the campus and meet the faculty.

    TESST College of Technology

    • TESST College of Technology has been in the business of training students for careers for over 40 years. Located in Baltimore, Maryland, TESST College offers a certification program in HVAC and job placement assistance after successful completion of the courses. Students experience hands-on training with the latest tools available and learn all aspects of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. When students complete their certification they will know how to service and repair these systems. TESST College also offers students assistance in finding part-time jobs while attending school and counseling if needed. Campus tours are available upon request.

    Mayfield College

    • Mayfield College is located in Cathedral City, California and offers a training and certification program for HVAC. Students are taught not only by classroom lectures but also with hands-on training using the latest tools available. Geared toward job training, this school focuses on preparing students for employment as HVAC technicians and promotes apprenticeship programs offered by companies in the industry. Financial assistance is available and career counselors are on staff. Mayfield College offers their students free tutoring and test preparation for HVAC certification and classes.
