Find out what the admission requirements are. Cardiovascular technology programs range from those granting certificates and associate's degrees to bachelor's degree programs covering the last two years of college, such as the cardiopulmonary science program at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Associate's degree programs require a high school diploma, while two-year baccalaureate programs require an associate's degree or the first two years of college from a four-year program.

Decide where you want to live and work after graduation. It may be easier to go to school where you want to live. Your internships and practical experience could possibly be at future employers, and there will opportunities for networking and getting a job.

Check out expenses. The cost of attendance varies with each school with different financial aid policies. Research the schools you are considering to figure out how much you can afford and what kind of aid you expect to receive.

Research the strength of the program. Look into the reputation of the schools you are considering as well as their specialization. Some schools specialize in one or two of the cardiovascular specialties. Very few, such as Spokane Community College in Spokane, Washington, and Sentara School of Health Professions in Chesapeake, Virginia, offer all specialties.
