The Roman Catholic Church founded St. Catherine University for women in St. Paul in 1905 and since that time, the university has grown to an enrollment of more than 5,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The college offers an associate degree program in radiography that admits only 15 students per year to keep class sizes small. Among the required courses for the two year program are radiation physics, anatomy and physiology, human disease, medical ethics, psychology, social change, medical terminology, literature, fine arts and theology. All students complete five clinical rotations, spending two days per week off campus during the first year of the program and three days during the second year. Approximately 75 percent of all students in the university's associate degree programs receive some type of financial aid, reports the university's website.
