The Columbus College of Art and Design offers a bachelor's-level academic program in fashion design. This is a 120-credit course of study that includes classes in both design and technical skill areas. Students must complete courses from four curriculum components, including foundation, such as 2-D and 3-D design; division-specific, such as pattern-making; academic, such as math, science and literature; and electives, such as fashion illustration. Additionally, students can take classes in fashion merchandising methods or sales psychology. All students must design and construct a fashion collection during the senior year. Senior collections are displayed during the annual senior fashion show. The Columbus College of Art and Design is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) offers students two separate fashion design tracks. Both tracks lead to a bachelors degree upon completion of curriculum requirements. The design track is a 12 quarter program that includes a supervised internship experience in professional practice. Students in this track take fashion specific courses in design, textiles, design history, as well as general liberal arts classes in math and English. The second fashion design track provides students with a concentration in product development. Product development encompasses design, merchandising, and marketing areas.

Founded by the designer Virginia Marti Veith, the Virginia Marti College of Art in Design is a two-year associate's degree program in fashion design located near Cleveland. Future designers will study haute couture, sewing methods, tailoring, fashion illustration, pattern-making and other topics during an eight-quarter curriculum. Before graduation, each student is expected to design and complete a five-piece collection final project. Virginia Marti College of Art and Design is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
