The Art Institute Of Vancouver-Burnaby offers a diploma program in 3D modeling for animation and games. Students of the program are trained in the basics of computer animation from 3D modeling, environment simulation and character creation. The institute also offers a diploma program in visual and game programming, which trains participants in the technical aspects of game design inclusive of immersion in such programs as Mel scripting, DirectX, C++ and OpenGL. Programs in motion graphics and interactive media are also offered.

Vancouver's Pacific Audio Visual Institute is home to one of the most comprehensive game programming design courses in all of Canada. According to the institute's website, the city of Vancouver is a "hotbed" of video game design. PAVI's Game Design & 3D Animation program is a one year, three-semester course comprising 12 courses as well as on-location instruction and guest lecturers from the game the game design industry. Internship placement is offered to students who successfully complete the course.
