Technical Colleges in Kingsport, Tennessee

The Kingsport Academic Village is located in downtown Kingsport, Tennessee. It's home to two branches of Northeast State Technical Community College: The Northeast State Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing and the Northeast State Regional Center for Health Professions. The Kingsport Regional Center for Applied Technology is located next to the Academic Village; it's also a branch of Northeast State Technical Community College. All three campuses offer technical certificate and associate degree programs that prepare students to enter the workforce right after graduation.
  1. Northeast State Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing

    • The Northeast State Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing opened in 2009 in Kingsport, Tennessee. It is Northwest State Community College’s main teaching facility for advanced manufacturing certificate programs and degrees. It offers technical certificate programs in welding and metal fabrication, electrical and electromechanical technology, and chemical press operations. It also offers associate of applied science degrees in chemical processes, electrical technologies and fabrication technologies. Students may attend day or evening classes, with select courses offered in non-traditional formats, such as Internet courses and Interactive Televised (ITV) courses.

    Northeast State Regional Center for Applied Technology

    • The Northeast State Regional Center for Applied Technology (RCAT) offers traditional instruction in the technology field. Associate degree programs include business management, office administration technology, computer science and information technology. RCAT also offers career-specific single courses, such as Spanish for law enforcement professionals and an introduction to the National Electrical Code. RCAT has day and evening classes available for both traditional and non-traditional students, and it has select courses available in Internet and ITV formats.

    Northeast State Regional Center for Health Professions

    • The Northeast State Regional Center for Health Professions offers associate degree programs in cardiovascular technology, dental assisting, surgical technology and medical laboratory technology. It also offers associate degree nursing programs that prepare students for registered nursing programs at four-year universities. The core nursing components taught include professional behaviors, assessment, clinical decision making, collaboration, managing care and communication. The Regional Center for Health Professions has both day and evening classes available for traditional and non-traditional students.
