Diesel Mechanic Tech Schools

Diesel mechanic technicians work in preventive maintenance and repair of diesel engines in trucks, buses, locomotives, tractors, bulldozers, cranes and other large machinery. Their job requires knowledge and use of hand, power and machine tools, jacks and hoists, and welding equipment. Computerized equipment is also used to find and analyze mechanical problems. While some mechanics learn through on-the-job training, many others go to school to learn the trade. Technical and vocational schools and some community colleges offer diesel mechanic programs.
