Remington College is a career institute with campuses throughout the country. The college offers a program in pharmacy technology at its campus in Little Rock. Graduates receive the National Pharmacy Technician Association sterile products certification and are eligible to sit for their professional certification exam through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
The program offers students the opportunity to work in a professional pharmacy alongside pharmacists. Training includes pharmacology, dosage calculations, prescription writing and ways of administering prescriptions. Students also are trained in the relationship between the pharmacist and the pharmacy technician.

The Arkansas State University-Beebe satellite campus in Searcy offers a pharmacy technician program. The course prepares students to sit for the National Pharmacy Technician test, which leads to national certification. The course requires 90 hours of classroom training and 10 hours of workplace training. Training includes instruction in dosages, measurements, dispensing, calculations, law, inventory management, ethics and billing. The program was designed in close consultation with area pharmacies to help ASU prepare students for the workplace. Students learn hands-on in a replica of a working pharmacy.
Classes convene on Saturday mornings and afternoons for 15 weeks. The course costs $450 as of 2010, not including textbook. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, hold a high school diploma or equivalency and have no felony convictions.

Black River Technical College in Paragould provides a 27-week pharmacy technician program. The program trains students in career skills including client record maintenance and packaging and mixing of prescriptions. Graduates receive a certificate and are prepared for sit for the national certification test. The course includes 182 hours of classroom time and a 120-hour externship.
The program costs $2,595 as of 2010. Students must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must also complete an English and math pre-test. Before entering their externship, students must pass a tuberculosis test and undergo CPR training.
