What do Howard Atlanta and Fisk universities Hampton institute have in common?

Howard University, Atlanta University (now part of Clark Atlanta University), and Fisk University, and Hampton University all share the commonality of being Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). They were founded before the Civil Rights era and have historically served the African American community.
