History
BUW was established on August 1, 1972, as the result of a merger between several institutions of higher education in Wuppertal. The university was originally named Gesamthochschule Wuppertal, and it was renamed Bergische Universität Wuppertal in 2003.

BUW is organized into six faculties:

Academics
