This course is suitable for people who do not have a background in law. It provides basic information on legal affairs and procedures. NALS -- Stetson Online Legal Training Course is offered by Stetson University in collaboration with NALS. It is a 20-week training program that covers all aspects of legal matters and procedural law. It is also useful in preparing for NALS certification exams. To promote distant learning, Stetson University offers its online Blackboard Learning Management System for students taking on this course. The course is based on content adopted from NALS' "Basic Manual for Lawyer's Assistant."
NALS offers certification exams for becoming accredited legal secretaries, including ALS (Accredited Legal Secretary), PLS (Professional Legal Secretary) and PP (Professional Paralegal). To prepare students for these exams, NALS has partnered with different institutions across the country, including the Lawyer's Assistant School of Dallas, Metro Technology Centers, and Renton Technical College, Washington.
