Kwantlen Polytechnic University offers a bachelor of interior design with a four-year intensive full-time study in Surrey, British Columbia. Accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, Kwantlen provides the only accredited program in British Columbia for interior design. Courses include interior design studio and design theory plus business and general education classes. Kwantlen also offers work experience with internship opportunities in interior design. On the Richmond campuses, prospective interior design students attend informational sessions as well as a question and answer sessions with department advisors.
British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), in Burnaby, offers a diploma of technology in interior design after successful completion of a management certificate in interior design and bridging courses. BCIT students in the interior design programs go through courses such as graphic presentation, 3-D computer rendering for interior design, design theory and research, design history, and materials and joinery. Students also receive industry experience working with interior designers.
Located in the Landmark Technology Centre, the Centre for Arts and Technology in Kelowna offers a diploma program in interior design. Courses include interior design studio, building systems, theory, digital methods and practicums. These courses teach students how to use graphic programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, AutoCAD and SketchUP.
LaSalle College International in Vancouver provides an interior design diploma program accredited by Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia. Course topics include visual language, materials, digital media, lighting, illustration, and design program training in Photoshop and AutoCAD. To join the program, you must be 19 years old with a working knowledge of the English language and pass an interview with the program advisor. Graduates go on to careers as interior designers, project managers, space planners and design consultants. The LaSalle website showcases student's designs with pictures and videos.
