The Royal Academy of Art, located in the Hague, is one of the oldest and most respected academies of art in the world. Known to the Dutch as the "Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, Den Haag," it was founded in 1682 and has since provided training to artists from all corners of Europe and beyond. The bachelor studies include programs in Art Science, Fine Arts, Photography, Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Furniture Design and Textile & Fashion. There are also master studies in Art Science, Interior Architecture and Media technology. PhD studies are also available.
The Piet Zwart Institute, or PZI, is a centre for postgraduate studies and research in art, design, media and education. All master's programs have a strong research orientation. All programs are taught in English, with the exception of the Master Education in Arts, which focuses primarily on the Dutch educational system. The academy largely consists of international students and staff. PZI is located in Rotterdam.
Academie Minerva is another Dutch art school. Focused on fine arts and design, it is a part of the Hanze University Groningen. The academy is based in Groningen. Academie Minerva offers both bachelor's and master's degrees.
Gerrit Rietveld Academie is located in Amsterdam. It is named after a famous Dutch architect and furniture designer Gerrit Rietveld. Gerrit Rietveld Academie positions itself as a university of applied sciences for Fine Arts and Design. It offers two bachelor degree programs: a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Design. The art school also has four master's degrees: Master of Fine Arts, Master of Applied Arts, Master of Design and Master of Interior Architecture.
